The Seiko calibre V147 with day/date display is a Solar watch. Seiko Solar uses an ultra-efficient solar cell that is able to create energy from all kinds of light, not only sunlight. This energy is stored in a very small rechargeable battery that lasts many times longer than conventional batteries. The watch is protected against overcharging. This makes the watch virtually maintenance-free. When fully charged, calibre V147 has an energy reserve of 10 months. The watch has a handy instant start function. This means that when the watch runs out of energy, and it is exposed to sufficient (sun) light again, the watch will start immediately and the watch will run the second hand in 2-second increments until the watch has enough energy again.
